ENDURANCE FILMS AND TEAM IN TRAINING COACHES TO PRODUCE MARATHON TRAINING DVD

For Immediate Release: 4.15.08

Endurance Films announces plans to begin production work this summer on a marathon training DVD with coaching moguls and best selling authors, John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield.  The company, which has worked primarily in the multisport and cycling arena, says the need for this kind of resource has been apparent for a while and producing it has been a long time goal of theirs.

Endurance Films producers spent the last year meeting with several active participants in the running community that had either recently completed or had begun training for a half or full marathon event.  They found that the methods of preparation for these individuals all varied to a certain degree but at least two aspects of their training experience seemed consistent; all had used or were using a training resource of some kind; and all had found at least one element in that resource to be lacking.

“We started doing research into the field of distance running a little over a year ago.” says Eric Feller, producer and founder of Endurance Films. “We gathered a good deal of information that told us conclusively that many people were looking for more in their training than what was generally available on the market.  More specifically, people were either disengaged from the authors in the books they read and became unmotivated, or found that there could be improvements in the way of demonstrations when the content was more focused on technique.”

The ability to improve technical demonstrations going from a book format to a video format is obvious.  Finding the answer to the common motivational issues, according to Endurance Films, was mostly about finding the right coach(es) to lead the project.  Josh Glauber of Endurance Films weighed the coaching field and first made contact with the coaching duo.

“There are a number of experienced marathon coaches out there that have written about marathon training. However, not all are well suited for the camera.  We knew we needed to find someone with not only the experience and technical know-how but the ability to capture an audience as well.” Glauber continued, “Knowing that made our search pretty easy; John and Jenny are the most dynamic, entertaining, and effective coaches in the sport. There were really no other options.”

John, known affectionately as “The Penquin”, and his wife Jenny have made a name for themselves as being able relate to and inspire their “average Joe”  athletes into accomplishing great things.  They are currently the lead coaches for Active.com, Team in Training, and John Bingham Racing, as well as the authors of the best selling books “Marathoning for Mortals” and “Running for Mortals”.  The two are commonly accredited with reigniting America into its current running boom.

Bingham had this to say about the upcoming DVD, “We are looking forward to bringing the same unique combination of inspiration and information that made our book series a success to the DVD medium. This format will allow people to not only read about how they can be successful, but see the path to success and hear the voices of their guides.”

Production work is currently scheduled for mid summer and with all going well, all parties are hoping for a fall 2008 release date.

VIDEO PRODUCERS FIND DISTRIBUTION PARTNER IN SHOE LACE INNOVATOR

For Immediate Release: 4.01.08

At first glance, a video production company and a shoe lace manufacturer seem to have little in common that would justify a working partnership.  Yet there are deeper connections than what meets the eye with Endurance Films, of Louisville, KY and Yankz!, creator of the Sure Lace System, out of Atlanta, GA.   The two companies were introduced last fall while working with USAT in Las Vegas.

“We met with Yankz! last year at the Interbike Expo (an international trade convention for the bike industry) while covering new products and innovations in the multisport category.   Our conversations were first a consideration of adding the Yankz! sure lace system into an update of our DVD Triathlon Transitions,” says Josh Glauber, Marketing Director for Endurance Films. We ultimately decided to move forward with the project, but it was really an afterthought once learning of the company’s ties into the multisport and running retail markets.”

Yankz! was founded in 2000, about the same time as Endurance Films. But instead of chasing down triathletes with a video camera, they focused their energy on building an extensive sales network that now serves as a platform for a viable, up and coming distribution business.  It’s this network of multisport and running specialty shops that Endurance Films hopes to utilize for their distribution goals.

“In building the Yankz! brand, we probably spent much of our first five years on the road hitting as many multisport and marathon expos as possible,” states Pierce Pape, owner and founder of Yankz!  “We ended up with an extensive network of endurance sports minded shops that we feel will embrace what Endurance Films has to offer.  We feel the best way for our retailers to move their sports forward is through education, and this is what we intend to bring them.”

The companies are looking to execute their first advertising campaign sometime in mid April.

NEW RELEASE: THE ATHLETE'S GUIDE TO YOGA WITH SAGE ROUNTREE

Yoga makes good athletes better!  This time-honored discipline imparts flexibility, balance, and whole-body strength, creating improvements in an athlete’s form, efficiency, and power.  And though there have been yoga options for endurance minded athletes for the last couple of years, there hasn’t been a product that was up to the standards of the most trusted name in video training, Endurance Films.

“If the endurance world is embracing Yoga, they might as well have a product created by a seasoned endurance athlete and coach that knows how to work the two styles of training together.  We knew we found that person when we met Sage Rountree.” says producer Eric Feller.

"The Athlete’s Guide to Yoga" is designed and narrated by Sage Rountree, author of the book of the same name. Sage is an endurance athlete, a Registered Yoga Teacher, and a coach with certifications from USA Triathlon and USA Cycling. She has created a program to fit specifically within the base, build, and peak cycles of endurance training.  And using the interactive menu, the viewer can choose from three preset sequences or can completely customize their routine by choosing from a list of twenty stand alone segments.

“An athlete’s training needs are in constant change. To address this we’ve made the DVD menu such that each person can tailor their workouts from 2 minutes to 2 hours and focus on their specific needs for that day.” Sage continues saying, “It was a lot more effort to make the DVD like this but ultimately it will serve our customers well.  I’m proud of what we’ve done here.”

Sage appears in the video with her students Laurence Wilkinson, a tennis pro and adventure racer who demonstrates modifications for beginners, and Dan Lehman, an Ironman triathlete who shows deeper expressions of the poses.  Both students are USAT certified coaches as well.

ENDURANCE FILMS RELEASES WORLD'S FIRST XTERRA TRAINING DVD

For Immediate Release 2.01.08

Louisville, KY - You might know triathlon….but do you know XTERRA?
Endurance Films and Mach3 Multisport announce the DVD release of the world’s first completely comprehensive guide to XTERRA training, XTERRA: Off Road Triathlon - Get Dirty.

XTERRA, or off-road triathlon, is the fastest growing new concept in multisport with more than 100 events in 16 countries. Bordering on the extreme, this style of racing takes the conventional framework of a road triathlon and adds the unpredictability of Mother Nature. Xterra replaces the security of the open road with the challenges of undulating dirt, or mud, trails that wind between mountains, over rocks and fallen trees, through creeks and rivers, in some of the toughest conditions on the planet. Yet anyone can do it!

DVD Highlights include:
• 60 minutes of comprehensive off road triathlon training
• Breathtaking footage from elite XTerra races around the world
• Racing procedures to combat altitude, hills, trails, etc
• Nutrition specifics for training and racing off-road
• Gear selection: From bikes and hydration packs to tires and tools
• Bike Maintenance on and off the trail
• Practical training sections in swim, mt bike and trail run with workouts and drills

“The biggest thing keeping people from the sport was a fear and a perception that XTERRA was some kind of 500 pound gorilla…something that was beyond them,” said host Brian Grasky, XTerra Champion and USA Triathlon All-American. “We made this DVD for all athletes, whether triathletes or mountain bikers, beginner or advanced, to understand that there is nothing cosmic about doing an off-road triathlon. With the right knowledge and understanding, it can be a fun, challenging, and rewarding fitness goal that anyone can reach for and attain.”

ENDURANCE FILMS AND ACTIVE.COM CONTINUE COLLABORATION

For Immediate Release: 1.08.08

Louisville, KY - Endurance Films and Active will again collaborate in 2008 to give participating Race Directors and event managers the option to offer training DVDs through their event registration pages as an additional revenue stream and added value to race participants.

In 2007, Active and Endurance Films partnered to make multisport training DVD available for purchase directly through Active’s registration pages. We first began working with Active per the request of partnered event, The Life Time Fitness Triathlon.  Director, Charlie Wasley, was looking for a way to make training resources like ours more readily available to his registrants.  We made four of our best selling multisport titles available to his race and an additional 75 triathlon events in 2007.  The response by the registrants was quite impressive and showed us that training is something that triathletes are actively seeking.

“We were pleasantly surprised with the success of this program.” Wasley stated. “It’s been great to be able to offer our participants quality training DVDs and earn additional revenue at the same time.”

Endurance Films will continue to work with Active.com in this capacity and hopes to bring other registration hosting companies on board with the idea.

ENDURANCE FILMS TO PROVIDE RACE COVERAGE FOR RAMBLIN ROSE TRIATHLON SERIES

11.01.07 - This fall, the Ramblin Rose triathlons, hosted in Charlotte and Chapel Hill, NC were a tribute to women of all ages and backgrounds with a common interest in fitness.  Over 4k women participants and spectators showed up at the events to rally behind the common goal, to get involved and cross the finish line one and all.

The Ramblin' Rose Sprint Triathlons were designed to celebrate the empowerment of women and bring together women of all ages and athletic abilities in a collective movement to inspire, support and propel each other to do even more than they thought possible.

"We wanted to create an environment to enable every woman, age 8 to 88, to find her strength and become further empowered by her own accomplishments with the support of other women," stated Steve Lackey, Endurance Magazine publisher and founder of Ramblin' Rose.

Endurance Films, a recent partner to Endurance Magazine, was charged to produce a highlight DVD that would be made available to the participants of both races.  As the event was a new experience for over half the participants, interest in the DVD has been high.

“What the Rambin Rose series does for women individually and as a community is truly inspiring”, says Josh Glauber of Endurance Films. “If we can capture only a part of the energy that happens there, we’ll have a special product for everyone.”

ENDURANCE FILMS AND SPINNING FORM PARTNERSHIP TO LAUNCH NEW INDOOR CYCLING SERIES

For Immediate Release: 10.1.07

Louisville, KY - This year at Interbike, indoor cycling mogul Mad Dogg Athletics, owner of the Spinning brand, showcased their latest venture in training DVDs, a newly co-branded series entitled RIDES. Created by Endurance Films, RIDES was designed to break the mold and give Spin enthusiasts something entirely new and exciting...and now joins a growing library of indoor cycling DVD's carrying the Spinning name.

“It was clear years ago that indoor cycling was here to stay,” says Endurance Films’ president, Eric Feller. “Just as clear was that people have been looking for something new to motivate them; this is why we saw the need to create RIDES.”

For Spinning CEO, John Baudhuin, this concept was crystallized after meeting with Endurance Films at Interbike 2006. Baudhuin saw the potential in RIDES when he was shown a clip of the series featuring cyclists and triathletes winding their way through a scenic state park outside of Las Vegas, NV. Most intriguing to Baudhuin was that while designed for indoor training, the production is not set inside of a gym or studio and does not have a coach vocalizing the instructions for the workout. This is what sets the RIDES series apart and what would inspire the two companies to spend the next several months tailoring workouts to fit into the Spinning lineup.

With an aggressive print and television campaign marketing its Spinner bikes, Mad Dogg Athletics was determined to capture the in-home fitness consumer and in growing demand of video content for its companion workout DVD’s. Though RIDES is new to the Spinning market, its unique format and strong recent sales figures have Mad Dogg Athletics and Endurance Films prospecting new locations for future volumes in 2008 and beyond.

ENDURANCE FILMS NAMED OFFICIAL PRODUCTION COMPANY FOR USA TRIATHLON WILL COVER NAT'L CHAMPIONSHIPS

For Immediate Release: 7.14.06

Louisville, KY - On Saturday, July 8, over 800 of the country’s top triathletes met on the shore of Smithville Lake, Kansas City to compete in the annual USAT Age Group National Championship. Charged with the task of filming the event was critically acclaimed production company Endurance Films, producers of "Triathlon: Through the Eyes of the Elite" and "Open Water Swimming." The seasoned film company, currently based in Louisville, KY, is certainly no stranger to the sport or event coverage, but this race presented a unique challenge: create an action-packed highlight reel to showcase as the finale of the awards ceremony only a few short hours after the race finish.

“I knew we would be running tight on time coming into the project”, says Eric Feller, Founder of Endurance Films, “but I had every confidence in my team that we could get it done. The biggest challenge was whittling down nearly 4 hours of race footage into a tightly polished highlight reel. Things were tense for a few hours, but everyone pulled together and delivered.”

Tim Yount, Sr. Vice President of Marketing for USA Triathlon, speaks of the decision to invest in this project, “The National Championship race is one of our marquis events of the season and we wanted to give it the distinction it deserved. After carefully considering a number of companies, we felt that only Endurance Films had the experience and expertise to accomplish what we had in mind.”

USAT Marketing Manager Kelly Baer recounts, ”For a standing room only crowd of over 500, they lit up the room with a re-creation of the two day event, capping it off with an explosive highlight of the championship race. The people loved it and were appreciative that we had captured their moment in this way.”

The two companies are both expecting this tradition to continue long into the future.

“What a perfect way to kick off our relationship with USAT,” says Feller, “Just to be a part of the event was truly an honor.”

Yount continues, “I see a great synergy between USAT and Endurance Films and am excited about the possibilities.”

ENDURANCE FILMS MEETS THE TRAINING DEMANDS OF ONE OF AMERICA'S FASTEST GROWING SPORTS

For Immediate Release: 3.29.06

Louisville, KY - Over the past decade, the sport of triathlon has grown from a recreational pastime of few to an Olympic phenomenon enjoyed by millions.  As one of America’s fastest growing sports, triathlon transcends age, gender and ability while focusing on one thing--achievement.  Imagine battling up to 2.4 miles of frigid open water; braving 100 plus miles of searing heat and headwinds by bike; only to cool down with a grueling full marathon. Triathlon is the Mount Everest of all competitive sports, and whether reaching for the summit or crossing the finish line, two things are required…an indomitable spirit and a dedication to training. While spirit is the mark of an individual’s character, training has been the mission of Endurance Films.

“Triathlon is inherently a very difficult sport to train for successfully.  We recognized the need for high quality training resources and, through the guidance of some of the world’s top coaches and athletes, have built our business on helping people achieve their goals.”

- Eric Feller, Founder of Endurance Films

After the debut of its inaugural feature film documenting the formation of the 2000 US Olympic Triathlon Team, Endurance Films fast became recognized as the leading producer of instructional and training videos specifically catering to the multisport market.  With partnerships spanning from professional athletes and coaches to experts in sports science and medicine, Endurance Films brings a wide range of experience and knowledge to the process of endurance sports video production.

”I'm a firm believer that getting smarter leads to getting faster. For several years I've worked closely with Endurance Films to help create educational videos for endurance athletes. The quality of their products is unrivaled and the information presented in them is cutting edge.”

- Joe Friel, Multisport Coach & Author of Triathlete’s Training Bible

As the 2006 season approaches, Endurance Films now boasts a library of 15 original multisport titles with several more in development and production.  All available on DVD, these videos cover all aspects of endurance training including technique, strength and flexibility, nutrition, planning, race strategy, workout, goal setting, time management, psychology and more.
